Essential Tips Every Successful Business Woman Should Know

Running a successful business – it’s everyone’s dream, isn’t it, if we’re honest?

Being your own boss, seeing your ideas turn into reality, making a difference, and feeling inspired every day.  If only it were that easy… There are some key tips that every successful woman is aware of though – and you definitely should be too.

Feel the passion for what you do

It goes without saying really, but you should always try to make your business something you feel passionate about.  It means you’ll really understand your product or service – and its market – and gives you the energy and drive to succeed.

Make sure everybody knows your name

Yes, just like the song, it really does matter whether everybody knows your name – and understands what it means.

So, if you haven’t already named your business, choose one that customers will remember – and use that branding everywhere.  It makes it so much easier for people to return their custom; spread the word, and help build your reputation.

Know yourself

You need to truly know yourself when you’re in business – and that means both your strengths and weaknesses.  Do you tend to be disorganized? Find ways to address that; set SMART goals, for example, don’t prevaricate – and learn the importance of uptime and downtime.

Ask an expert

If there are particular tasks you’re really not good at, and none of your employees have the right skill set – don’t be afraid to employ experts.  We can’t all be good at everything, after all. There are professionals out there specializing in every aspect of your business, so don’t be afraid to use their services. Whether that’s an SEO consultant, a copywriter or a web designer.

Communicate effectively

You might understand the importance of communicating effectively with your customers – but did you know it’s just as crucial with your employees?  Share ideas clearly, establish strong communication channels, provide lots of ways for your staff to feedback to you.  And then listen…

Be inspirational

Inspire your employees; don’t be shy about giving them praise and try to create a positive environment.  Nothing is less productive for your business than staff who don’t enjoy their job and are unmotivated. Or, even worse, feel so stressed and negative that they don’t want to come to work.

Always be ready to pivot

It’s so important to be able to respond quickly and effectively to change – and keep your business one step ahead.  So, if one of your competitors starts offering something too similar to you, for example, rethink it. Make your service or product stand out – never copy and always innovate, innovate, innovate…

Be resourceful

One of the most important things you can do as a new businesswoman is to be resourceful and learn how to get the best out of every single thing. For example, if you are to use social media to market your brands, you need to learn the features inside and out and allow yourself to take advantage of every marketing tool. Finding ways to save money as you start your business is also a good way to ensure that you consistently make profits in those first months of work.

Trust your gut

Gut instinct is something that you should never take for granted as a successful businesswoman. You will always know what works for you and your brand, and don’t let anyone else try to lead you astray. Be sure that you always trust yourself and your methods, because to make your business work you must have faith in your own ability.

Understand the process

It is important when you first step into the business world that you learn the questions to ask, the process behind manufacturing and logistics, and every step from procuring supplies to shipping to customers. A good business owner knows their own process like the back of their hand and understands how to negotiate at every step of the supply chain. Get into the nitty-gritty of your product manufacturing process and ensure that you know what you are doing. The more knowledge you have the better it is for you in the future.

Build a strong team

Recruit well, make sure you’re surrounded by positive people, and always address any presenting problems quickly.  Never feel too important to find your own mentor either – they can offer valuable insight and advice.

We hope you’ve found these few tips useful –  it’s in the power of every woman to be really successful – with just a few pointers and the right strategies.

Good luck…
