Is It Still a Man’s World?

Hearing the song This is a man’s world, you simply sit back in your chair while drinking your wine and let the grated voice of James Brown curl your toes and bring you goosebumps.

But other than that, you have to wonder, is it really still a man’s world?

Jill Of All Trades

The perfectly old-fashioned view of the world is that women are supposed to stay at home, right? Yet, there are still hundreds of thousands of women today still carrying the mantle of a housewife. Let’s break down what a housewife entails.

They are chefs, chauffeurs, teachers, house cleaners, personal assistants, doctors, therapists, personal shoppers, and referees all rolled into one. Sure they might not hold all the degrees, but they do the same jobs in the lives of their family, which is three to a soccer team size amount of people.

Even the title ‘housewife’ has evolved to ‘home executive’ to recognize the enormity of what the job duties entail.

Who Runs The World?

If you are looking at positions of power, you would think that it’s a pure male environment. Kaja Kallas (Prime Minister of Estonia), Maia Sandu (President of Moldova), Ingrida Simonyte (President of Lithuania), Katerina Sakellaropoulou (President of Greece), Sanna Marin (Prime Minister of Finland), Mette Frederiksen (Prime Minister of Denmark), Zuzana Caputova (President of Slovakia), Jacinda Ardern (Prime Minister of New Zealand), Salome Zurabishvili (President of Georgia), Tsai Ing-wen (President of Taiwan), and the list goes on. These are all women in the highest power possible in any country.

And let’s not even get started on how many women hold senator positions and cabinet positions. These were all fought hard for as mindsets in the world had shifted. But if you have ever proved anything in your life, it’s your tenacious nature and sense of doing right to others.

Don’t Judge A Book By Its Cover

You might think that it’s only the top positions in society that women had to fight to prove themselves, but that would be wrong. There are many more common job listings.

If you go for an interview and they see the fairer sex walking through the door, a preconceived perception already comes to their minds. You have to fight, take the jokes and then prove them wrong. It might make your blood boil, but many of us live for the challenge to make them eat their words.

Electricians, plumbers, and construction workers never looked better with you embodying it with your confidence. Who cares what the other guys whisper from the sidelines? Give them 20 minutes, and they will be picking up their jaws from the floor with your knowledge and professionalism. Even becoming an entrepreneur is more complex than expected.

You must prove your capabilities for finance juggling, marketing, production, and more twice as hard. But the rewards never tasted so sweet.

So even if you’re a truck driver, CEO of a significant company, architect, or house executive, you are an amazing being. You are right there in the trenches, busy kicking the mindset of the word from man-only to fair game for all.
