How to Travel the World and Make a Living

Work is a huge part of our lives, but it shouldn’t be our entire lives. The money we earn should be used to live- pursue hobbies and goals and have fun with. However when you work a full time job it can seem difficult fitting everything in, and many of us can fall into a rut where it feels like all we do is work, sleep repeat. If you want to make a change and do something different, how about traveling while you work? You still maintain your career and earn the money you need, but get to explore different destinations and overall it can make life much more fulfilling. Here are a few ideas if you’re hoping to make this change.

Work as a Freelancer

If you have a particular talent or skill, whether it’s website design, graphic design, writing or creating apps- you will always be in high demand. You could sign up to a freelancing site and work from there; because you’re not contracted to any hours and can choose the pieces you want to complete, it means it’s a very flexible way to earn money. You get to keep using your skills, while providing a much needed service. Otherwise you could sell directly, you could set up your own website and even an ecommerce store. These are traditionally thought of as a way to sell products, but they’re also great for selling services. The better your page rank, the more organic traffic you will get and therefore more custom. Establish yourself before you travel, once you know you’re getting regular work and a good income then it’s something you could do from a laptop anywhere in the world.

Monetize Your Blog or Youtube Channel

If you already run a successful blog or Youtube channel, then you’re able to travel easily while maintaining these things. Chances are it will give you plenty of new ideas for content too and could even result in more followers. Again, all you need is a laptop, camera and other key pieces of equipment and you can work from anywhere. In many ways these are perfect ways to work while you travel, just be sure the destinations you’re going to have a good wifi connection so you can keep uploading.

Consider Travel Opportunities With Your Career

If you already have an excellent established career then there could well be travel opportunities with your job. Take nursing for example, your skills will be in high demand in most places in the world, and it could even give you access to live and work in countries that are otherwise hard to gain entry to (other than as a tourist). America, the UK and Australia are all examples. You could do placements for a number of months in different locations, and it’s a chance to see the world while improving your career and taking on new challenges.
