7 Tips On How To Become A Morning Person

How to become a morning person

Raise your hand if you love the morning! While I’m sure that at least a few of you shot your hands in the air pretty quickly, I’m equally sure that a number of you made faces at the very notion. I feel the same way – it can be difficult to really embrace the morning when you’re not a natural “morning person”. Luckily for everyone, there are some things you can do to help you leave your love of sleeping in bed!

So what’s the secret on how to become a morning person? Here are seven tips that we think will help you rise and shine with a smile on your face!

How To Become A Morning Person

1. Spend Shorter Evenings

One of the best things you can do when you want to start waking up earlier is to spend more time winding down and decompressing in the evenings. Don’t stay up late working if you can help it – that will only make you feel tired and grouchy in the morning.

2. Fill Up on Protein

Protein helps you wake up and gets your metabolism kicking after hibernating all night while you sleep. Even if it’s just a little yogurt and fruit to get your day started!

3. Enjoy the Extra Time

One of the best things about my morning routine is sitting down for a few moments and enjoying a cup of coffee in silence. It’s a wonderful way to wake up and makes me look forward to the mornings rather than dread them. Making time for yourself and practicing a little self-care before work will go a long way for your mental health.

4. Exercise

Exercising in the morning can help boost your energy and your mood for the rest of the day! You might not find it quite so hard to get up when you know what kind of awesome reward is awaiting you. Consider going for a morning run, joining a group (I personally LOVE Orange Theory), or doing a little morning yoga before you head into work.

5. Get Things Ready at Night

Do you have a long morning routine? Try to cut down on some of that time! Pack lunches, pick out clothes and even wash and dry your hair the night before.

6. Reevaluate Your Makeup Routine

Sometimes we can spend literal hours doing our hair and makeup – and that’s a nightmare for anyone other than a morning person. Try reassessing exactly what you’re using and whether or not it is vital for the rest of your day. Cut down on the routine wherever possible.

7. Take Advantage of the Sun

One of the best ways to wake up is via sunlight. If you can, situate your bed next to a window so that you wake up to a lovely, bright morning. If that’s not possible, consider investing in a lightbox to bring natural light indoors.
