There is something special about working from home. You don’t have to get dressed, spend hours doing your makeup, and sit in traffic for hours. However, it can also be boring, monotonous, and dull. We all get bored with working from the same corner of the sofa or desk every now and then. Make the most out of the freedom offered by working from home and move into the garden every now and then for a change of scenery and some fresh air. Read our tips below.
Create a Shelter from the Wind
If you work with paper, you must make sure that it will not fly around your garden next time you try to do your accounts. You can get some cheap pop-up gazebos that will do the job, and provide you shelter for rainy and windy days. If you want, you can even create a “protected workspace” for regularly working outdoors, using bamboo screens. Alternatively, set up your working area where you are naturally sheltered from the wind.
Protect Your Laptop from Glare
Working from home usually involves computers. If you run your business on the internet, you will be spending hours on your laptop. Make sure that you use parasols or other ways of protecting the screen from direct sunlight and your eyes from glare. While natural light is better for those who work on the computer, glare can cause your eyesight to worsen over time. Get in the shade and start working enjoying the great outdoors.
Get a Mobile Charger and WiFi Booster for Your Laptop
If you use your laptop when working from home, you might need to boost the WiFi signal to reach you in the garden. Shop around and find one with the longest range, so you can carry on working undisrupted. You will also benefit from a mobile charger powered by solar energy or a rechargeable one to keep your batteries topped up. You might not want to run long cables through your garden just for a few hours of outdoor work.
Build a Working Desk
You might find that you are better at working at a desk. You can move your existing office furniture outdoors, or build one. Look for DIY ideas that are easy to implement and create a workspace outdoors that can be used for other purposes, too. You must be comfortable in your new office space to do your job well.
Install Lighting for the Nights
You might even feel like you want to work late and enjoy the new smells and views. Install some solar paneled spot lights or String Lights to increase your visibility and carry on working. Outdoor lights can get you in a great mood and enhance your creativity.
Whenever you feel like you need a change from your daily routine of working from home, you can transform your garden into a temporary office. The fresh air, better lighting, and natural surroundings will make you feel more relaxed and happier, helping you do the job at hand better.
